Here at Strew we’re always working at making our home ed app better and better. Sometimes that means we add a new feature, sometimes it means we remove something to make things smoother.
In an effort to show you all the changes that we make, I’m going to write an update post each month in 2026.

🤩 New: Scan Childrens Book Barcodes
This month Strew got a barcode scanner!
To use this new feature just hit the ‘scan’ button when adding a new activity, scan the book barcode.
🐛 10 Bugs Fixed
We have had some great feedback recently and are acting on it. We’ve resolved 10 bugs in January, ranging from those we introduced ourselves (😰) to some Android catchup.
Also, a few users have made so many posts that their feed was lagging! It’s great to hear, and we fixed that too.
🔧 Other Improvements
Several of you mentioned that you wanted to be able to filter your feed by study bucket easily. You now can by going to the ‘Study Points’ screen and tapping a study bucket.
We also improved the welcome wizard, general navigation, and the add/edit activity screens.
What’s Coming Next?
We’ve got a lot in store this year, but also – not too much. So many of the apps we’ve loved have started out well, then added loads of stuff we didn’t want. So a balanced year, right.
Thing’s we’re thinking about on the horizon:
- (Optional) Cloud Sync for multi-device
- Home Ed Reports 2.0
- Refer-a-friend scheme
- Learning Suggestions

- Added: You can now tap on a study bucket to jump to a filtered feed which shows you activities in that study bucket
- Added: You can now tap on a tag to jump to a filtered feed which shows you activities with that tag
- Fixed: Bug where scrolling through hundreds of activities used too much memory leading to a crash
- Fixed: Bug where repeatedly loading settings caused concurrency issue in permissions request
- Fixed: Bug where filters in feed and print didn't properly deal with study points across home ed types
