As 2026 progresses on and we’re all starting to phase into chillier, quieter months, let’s see what’s new in Strew for September!

📚 New Feature: Reading Log / Bookshelf
Strew already had a fairly good children’s book barcode scanner, but several of you kept asking for a proper kids bookshelf.
While we’re busy working on super important stuff like our new evolution of Study Points (into a more evidence-focused learning platform), we thought we’d take a quick break and make something more fun!
Enter, Reading Logs for kids:

As of version 1.0.34 (released 1st October 2026) you can now find all of the books you’ve scanned in your child’s very own digital bookshelf!
Simply open the side menu and select ‘Bookshelf’. From there you can see books you’ve already scanned, scan and add more, and manage the ‘read state’ for each book.
Kids can favourite books too, so you can build up a bookshelf of just their favourite books!
Later we’ll be adding reading analysis & suggestions, but for now it’s just a nice place to be in Strew (with pets!)

🐛 9 Bugs Fixed + 2 Small Improvements
Alongside our bigger work on the backbone of Strew (Learning logs) & the cute bookshelf addition, we’ve also been squashing bugs.
Here’s what we’ve fixed & improved this month:
- Bugs in dark-mode, report generation, photo selection, date-pickers, network drop-offs, and add new activity screens.
- Improved a few points which were high-friction, unnecessarily
✍ What is Coming Next?
Next month we hope to release our Study Points 2.0 evolutions of the main app. This one will be the biggest change we’ve done all year, geared towards more completely capturing your child’s learning record, and so being able to make more legit reports.
Watch this space, our new system will be out soon!
Alongside this, we’ve also started work on:
- (Optional) Cloud Sync for multi-device
- Learning Suggestions / Reflections on recent focuses
